The ISCAR 5507798 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CNMG432PP geometry, grade IC807, designed for precision external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, delivering strong oxidation resistance and wear performance at elevated cutting temperatures. The 80-degree diamond shape (C) provides a strong cutting edge with positive rake for cleaner chip formation. With a 1/2-inch inscribed circle and a 0.0315-inch corner radius, this insert handles medium-duty finishing and semi-finishing cuts across a range of workpiece materials. A licensed HVAC, electrical, or mechanical trade contractor installs this type of tooling.
The ISCAR 5507798 is suited for turning steel (P), stainless steel (M), and superalloys (S) in residential and industrial CNC machining environments. The PP chip breaker geometry promotes consistent chip control during moderate feed and depth-of-cut conditions. Typical applications include shaft turning, bore finishing, and facing passes where dimensional accuracy and surface finish are priorities. It is sold individually but must be ordered in multiples of 10.
Designed for use in CNMG-style toolholders accepting a 1/2-inch inscribed circle insert with clamp and pin holding, tolerance code M, and clearance code N. Compatible with primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, P, and S per ISO designation. Specific toolholder compatibility should be confirmed against ISCAR Isoturn series toolholder specifications.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician on CNC or manual turning equipment. Power down and lock out the spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the correct clamp screw torque as specified in the toolholder manufacturer documentation — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the insert. Verify insert seating and shim condition before resuming cutting operations.
