The ISCAR 5507741 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CNMA432 geometry, designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the IC5010 manufacturer grade with a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, a combination that delivers thermal resistance and wear protection across a range of cutting conditions. The 80-degree diamond insert shape provides a strong cutting edge with moderate versatility. With a 0.5-inch inscribed circle and a 0.031-inch corner radius, this insert is suited to medium-depth finishing and semi-finishing passes. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install and index these inserts as part of routine tooling maintenance.
This insert is part of the Isoturn series and is engineered primarily for turning cast iron and hardened ferrous workpiece materials, corresponding to ISO workpiece material code K. The CNMA form factor uses a clamp-and-pin holding method, seating into compatible toolholders with a 0.203-inch hole diameter. It is appropriate for use in both production-floor turning cells and job-shop environments where consistent edge life across multiple indexes is required. The maximum depth of cut is 0.157 inches (4.00 mm). This insert conforms to ISO 13399 standards for cutting tool data representation.
Designed for use in CNMA-style toolholders that accept a 0.203-inch hole diameter and are compatible with clamp-and-pin insert holding. Fits within the ISCAR Isoturn series toolholder family. Verify toolholder geometry and pocket dimensions before installation.
Insert indexing and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine fully stopped and the spindle locked out per local lockout-tagout procedures. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer when securing the clamp. Inspect the toolholder pocket and pin for wear or damage before seating a new insert. Do not force the insert into a damaged or contaminated pocket, as this can cause insert fracture or dimensional deviation in the finished workpiece.
