The ISCAR 5507579 is a round turning insert in the Isoturn series, designated RCMT 0803MO-14, manufactured from solid carbide with a CVD-applied TiCN and Al2O3 coating. The round insert shape (shape code R) provides a continuous cutting edge with no corners, making it well-suited for high-load profiling and facing operations. The IC9250 grade is engineered for cutting performance in stainless steel and steel workpiece materials. With an 8 mm (0.3150 inch) inscribed circle and a maximum depth of cut of 3.99 mm (0.1570 inch), this insert is sized for medium turning applications. It uses screw-type holding and is designed to ISO 13399 standards. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary installers of this insert.
This insert is intended for use on CNC lathes and turning centers performing external and facing operations in stainless steel and steel materials. The 14 chip breaker designation optimizes chip control for these material classes. Its multi-use capability includes facing operations, making it a versatile choice for shops running varied turning programs. The insert fits toolholders designed for RCMT-style inserts with screw-type clamping and a 3.40 mm (0.1340 inch) hole diameter.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement turning insert for RCMT-style screw-clamp toolholders accepting a round insert with an 8 mm inscribed circle and 3.40 mm hole diameter. Primary workpiece material compatibility is stainless steel (ISO material code M) and steel (ISO material code P).
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine in a stopped, locked-out state. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to remove and seat the clamping screw; consult the toolholder manufacturer documentation for seating procedure. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or damage before installing a new insert. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut specified for this insert size.
