The ISCAR 5507566 is a TNMG-321 TF IC9250 grade solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a CVD-applied TiCN and Al2O3 multilayer coating that improves wear resistance and thermal stability during continuous and interrupted cuts. The triangular insert shape (60-degree included angle) provides three usable cutting edges. With a 0.375-inch inscribed circle, a 0.125-inch insert thickness, and a 0.016-inch corner radius, this insert is suited to medium-duty turning passes where tight tolerances and good surface finish are required. It is installed and managed by machinists and CNC tooling specialists.
This insert is intended for turning stainless steel and carbon or alloy steel workpieces, corresponding to ISO material groups M and P. The TF chip breaker geometry is optimized for positive-rake cutting action, which reduces cutting forces and helps manage chip flow on ductile materials. Typical applications include external turning, facing, and light profiling on production turning equipment. It fits into standard TNMG-style toolholders that accept clamp-and-pin insert holding. The Isoturn series designation confirms compatibility with ISCAR Isoturn toolholder systems. Maximum depth of cut is 3.00 mm (0.118 inches).
Designed for use in TNMG-style toolholders that accept clamp-and-pin insert retention. Compatible with ISCAR Isoturn series toolholders. Optimized for turning stainless steel and steel workpieces in ISO material groups M and P.
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine spindle at a full stop and all motion axes locked or e-stopped per shop safety protocol. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer when seating the insert. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing a new edge. Never rotate or flip the insert while the toolholder is under load or while the machine is running.
