The ISCAR 5507565 is a TNMG221NF-style triangular turning insert in the Isoturn series, designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured from solid carbide with a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability across a range of cutting conditions. It carries an IC9250 manufacturer grade and features a 60-degree included angle, a 0.25-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/64-inch (0.0156-inch) corner radius. The neutral 0-degree relief angle and positive rake geometry work together to reduce cutting forces on the workpiece. Machinists and tooling technicians install these inserts in compatible tool holders for production turning.
This insert is rated for primary workpiece materials of stainless steel (ISO material code M) and steel (ISO material code P), making it suitable for general turning, profiling, and finishing passes in job shop and production environments. The NF chip breaker geometry is optimized for controlled chip formation at moderate feed rates. Maximum depth of cut is 2.00 mm (0.0787 inches). The insert conforms to ISO 13399 standards for tooling data representation, which supports integration with CAM and tool management systems. Typical applications include shaft turning, face turning, and contour work on horizontal and vertical lathes.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for tool holders accepting TNMG221 geometry inserts with clamp and pin holding method. Verify tool holder seat dimensions and clamping style before installation.
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine in a fully stopped and locked-out state. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified fasteners when seating the clamp or tightening the pin to ensure proper insert retention. Inspect the tool holder pocket and seating surfaces for chips or wear before installing a new insert. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut of 2.00 mm to avoid insert fracture or premature edge failure.
