The ISCAR 5507539 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert in the VNMG 332-NF geometry, part of the Isoturn series. It features a 35-degree diamond shape (V-code) with a positive rake angle and a neutral clearance code (N), making it well suited for finishing and light machining passes. The inscribed circle measures 3/8 inches (0.375 inches), insert length is 0.654 inches (16.61 mm), and insert thickness is 3/16 inches (0.187 inches). The NF chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip formation during light cutting. Grade IC20 is an uncoated solid carbide grade optimized for machining a broad range of workpiece materials. Machinists and CNC turning specialists install these inserts as indexable cutting edges in compatible toolholders.
This insert is rated for universal primary workpiece material compatibility, covering ISO material groups H, K, M, N, and S. That range spans cast iron, non-ferrous metals, steel, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys. It is suited for use in both external turning and boring applications, with a maximum depth of cut of 0.118 inches (3.00 mm). The VNMG style and 332 size code make it a standard insert geometry found in a wide variety of indexable turning toolholders used in manual and CNC turning centers in both shop and production environments.
Designed for use in VNMG-style indexable turning toolholders that accept the 332 insert size. Compatible with workpiece material groups H, K, M, N, and S per ISO classification. Suitable for both boring and external turning operations.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench or insert key specified by the toolholder manufacturer when securing the clamp or pin-lock mechanism — do not overtighten by hand. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating a new insert edge.
