The ISCAR 5507504 is a solid carbide turning insert designated DNMX 150608-M3P, manufactured in the IC8150 grade with a CVD-applied TiCN and Al2O3 multilayer coating. This insert features a 55-degree diamond shape (Insert Shape Code D) with a positive rake geometry and a neutral 0-degree relief angle (Clearance Code N). It measures 15.5 mm (0.6102 inches) in length with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle and a 1/32-inch (0.0313-inch) corner radius. The HT chip breaker and Heliturn series designation make this insert well suited for high-productivity turning operations on cast iron and steel workpieces. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists are the primary installers of this tooling component.
This insert is designed for external and internal turning applications where consistent chip control on cast iron (ISO K) and steel (ISO P) materials is required. The IC8150 grade is optimized for medium to finishing cuts, and the CVD coating provides wear resistance and thermal stability under continuous cutting conditions. Maximum depth of cut reaches 5.00 mm (0.1970 inches). The DNMX 150608-M3P geometry is part of the Heliturn series, which targets high-metal-removal-rate operations in production machining environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement turning insert for toolholders accepting DNMX-style inserts with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, 1/4-inch thickness, and clamp or pin holding method within the Heliturn series. Primary workpiece material compatibility is cast iron (ISO K) and steel (ISO P) per ISO 13399.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer's torque and clamping specifications for DNMX-style inserts. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before installing a new insert, as contamination can cause premature edge failure or insert fracture. Handle carbide inserts carefully to avoid chipping the cutting edges prior to use.
