The ISCAR 5507281 is a DNMG432TF IC9250 grade solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert carries a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, which provides thermal resistance and wear protection during continuous and interrupted cuts. It features a 55-degree diamond shape, a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, and a 0.0315-inch corner radius. The TF chip breaker geometry promotes positive-rake cutting action, controlling chip flow and reducing cutting forces. This insert is intended for machinists and toolroom technicians operating turning applications on stainless steel and steel workpieces.
The 5507281 belongs to the ISCAR Isoturn series and is suited for external and internal turning operations where controlled chip breaking and surface finish are priorities. Primary workpiece materials are stainless steel (ISO material code M) and steel (ISO material code P). The insert is held in the toolholder using a clamp and pin method, which is standard for DNMG-style pockets. Material grades C5, C6, and C7 indicate suitability across a range of cutting speeds and feed rates appropriate for these material groups.
Designed for use in DNMG-style turning toolholders that accept a 0.5-inch inscribed circle insert with clamp and pin holding. Compatible with workpiece materials classified as stainless steel (ISO M) and steel (ISO P). Conforms to ISO 13399 standards for tooling data representation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Ensure the toolholder pocket and clamping surfaces are clean and free of chips before inserting to maintain proper seating and dimensional accuracy. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque guidelines for the clamping screw; do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide substrate.
