The ISCAR 5506711 is a replaceable drill tip from the ICM series, designed for indexable drilling systems used in precision hole-making operations. It features a 0.9020-inch (23.00 mm) cutting diameter, a 140-degree standard point angle, and a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process. The solid carbide construction uses a submicron material grade for edge toughness and wear resistance at elevated cutting temperatures. With a 2-flute helical design and web-thinned geometry, this tip is optimized for efficient chip evacuation and reduced thrust in demanding drilling applications. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this tip in compatible ICM-series modular drill bodies.
This replaceable tip is suited for production drilling in stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium as primary workpiece materials, with secondary capability in steel, cast iron, and hard materials. The ICM geometry code M is matched to these material groups. It is used in CNC machining centers and turning centers where modular drill systems reduce tooling costs by replacing only the worn cutting tip rather than the entire drill body. Insert seat size 22 governs body compatibility. Applications include general hole making and through-hole drilling in aerospace, medical, and heavy-industry part production.
Designed for use with ISCAR ICM-series modular drill bodies requiring insert seat size 22. ISO number ICM 229 identifies the compatible body interface. Conforms to ISO 13399 tooling data standards.
Installation and replacement of indexable drill tips should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and all energy is locked out before handling or exchanging the drill tip. Verify the insert seat is clean and free of chips or debris before seating the replacement tip. Follow the drill body manufacturer torque and clamping specifications for the clamp screw to ensure proper seating and prevent tip movement during operation.
