The ISCAR 5506703 is a carbide replaceable tip drill insert in the ICM series, designed for precision drilling in demanding metal cutting applications. Carrying the IC908 manufacturer grade with a submicron solid carbide construction, this tip delivers consistent performance in high-wear environments. A TiAlN coating applied via PVD process provides thermal resistance and extended tool life. The drill tip features a 140-degree included angle with a thinned web point, slow spiral flutes, and a T-Land style geometry. At 0.787 inches in cutting diameter and 0.338 inches in functional length, it is well suited for production drilling where repeatability and edge integrity are critical. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling technicians are the primary installers.
This replaceable tip is intended for use in modular drill body systems that accept ICM series inserts. It is built for primary work in stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, and is also rated for secondary application in steel, cast iron, and hard materials. The two-flute spiral design and slow helix angle are optimized for materials that generate high cutting forces and heat. This is a single-insert replacement that fits directly into compatible ICM drill body holders without requiring full tool replacement.
Designed as a replaceable tip insert for ICM series modular drill bodies accepting ISO number ICM 200 inserts with insert seat size 20. Compatible primary workpiece materials include stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium (ISO material codes M and S). Secondary compatible materials include steel, cast iron, and hard materials (ISO material codes P, K, and H).
Installation of replaceable tip inserts should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. The drill body and spindle must be fully powered down and locked out before changing the insert. Use the correct torque driver or key specified for the ICM holder to seat the tip securely using the twist-lock holding method. Do not overtighten or force the insert, as improper seating will affect runout and can damage the insert seat.
