The ISCAR 5506702 is a carbide replaceable tip drill insert manufactured under the ICM series, designed for high-performance drilling in demanding materials including stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. Carrying the IC908 manufacturer grade with a submicron carbide substrate, this insert features a TiAlN PVD coating that supports heat resistance and wear performance in difficult-to-machine workpieces. The 140-degree included angle with a thinned web point geometry reduces entry force and improves centering at the start of the cut. With a cutting diameter of 0.783 inches and a T-Land edge style, this insert is used by machinists and tool-room professionals running ICM-body drill systems on CNC machining centers and similar equipment.
This replaceable tip insert fits ICM series drill bodies and is suited for applications involving stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium as primary workpiece materials, as well as secondary materials including steel, cast iron, and hard materials. The slow spiral flute design and through-body coolant compatibility of the parent drill body support chip evacuation in deep hole drilling scenarios. Typical applications include precision drilling in aerospace, energy, and medical component manufacturing where tight tolerances and difficult materials are standard.
Designed as a replaceable tip insert for ISCAR ICM series drill bodies with insert seat size 19. Compatible with primary workpiece materials classified as stainless steel, superalloy, and titanium (ISO material codes M and S), and secondary materials including steel, cast iron, and hard materials (ISO material codes P, K, and H).
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician familiar with indexable drill systems. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before removing or seating the insert. Use the appropriate torque wrench and ISCAR-specified seating tool for the ICM series to avoid damaging the insert pocket or the twist-lock holding mechanism. Verify insert seating and runout before resuming cuts.
