The ISCAR 5506700 is a carbide replaceable tip drill from the ICM series, designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding workpiece materials. The tip carries ISCAR grade IC908, a submicron solid carbide grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating for heat and wear resistance. The drill point features a 140-degree included angle with a thinned web geometry and T-Land style cutting edge. It runs a slow spiral, 2-flute configuration suited for chip control in tough materials. The cutting diameter is 0.748 inches and the tip height is 0.433 inches. This replaceable tip format reduces tooling cost by allowing tip swap-out without discarding the shank body.
This drill is engineered primarily for stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium — ISO material groups M and S — covering applications such as aerospace components, medical hardware, and industrial fittings. It also performs in secondary applications involving steel, cast iron, and hard materials (ISO groups P, K, and H). The replaceable tip seats into a size-19 insert seat following the ICM 190 ISO designation. Typical use is on CNC machining centers and live-tool lathes where consistent hole geometry is required across production runs. Coolant-through capability is not included in this configuration.

Installation of replaceable carbide drill tips should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Clean the insert seat and seating surfaces before mounting the tip to ensure proper seating and runout control. Follow the tool manufacturer's torque procedure for the clamping screw — do not overtighten. Inspect the seat for wear or damage each time the tip is replaced to prevent premature tip failure or dimensional error.
