The ISCAR 5506694 is a carbide replaceable tip drill from the ICM series, designed for high-performance drilling in demanding materials including stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. The drill tip is manufactured from solid carbide in manufacturer grade IC908 with a submicron material grade, finished with a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process. It features a 140-degree included drill point angle with a thinned point and web-thinned geometry to reduce entry thrust. The cutting diameter is 0.472 inches (11.99 mm) and the functional length is 0.204 inches. Two spiral flutes in a slow-spiral, T-Land configuration promote chip evacuation in tough-to-machine workpiece materials.
This replaceable tip drill is suited for machining operations in metalworking environments where stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium are primary workpiece materials. It also performs in secondary applications involving steel, cast iron, and hard materials. The ICM series insert geometry is classified as M-type with an ISO number of ICM 120 and an insert seat size of 12. It is appropriate for production drilling where tip replacement reduces tooling downtime compared to solid-shank drills. Installation and use are typical in CNC machining centers and manual drill press applications in tool rooms, fabrication shops, and aerospace or industrial manufacturing environments.
Designed for use with ISCAR ICM series drill bodies accepting insert seat size 12 (ISO number ICM 120). Specific body compatibility should be confirmed against ISCAR ICM series tooling documentation prior to ordering.
Replaceable tip installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine fully powered down and the spindle secured. Use the appropriate ISCAR torx or clamping key specified for the ICM series body to seat the tip correctly — improper seating can cause tip movement under load. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before installing a new tip. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and ISCAR tooling guidelines for recommended speeds, feeds, and clamping torque when setting up for the target workpiece material.
