The ISCAR 5506683 is a carbide replaceable tip drill from the ICP series, designed for high-performance hole-making in ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials. The drill tip is manufactured from solid carbide in the IC908 submicron grade and features a TiAlN PVD coating that extends tool life under demanding cutting conditions. With a cutting diameter of 1.28 inches (32.51mm), a two-flute slow spiral configuration, and a 140-degree thinned drill point, this insert delivers consistent entry geometry and chip evacuation in production drilling applications. Licensed machinists and tooling specialists install and manage this style of replaceable tip tooling in CNC turning and machining center setups.
This replaceable tip drill is suited for drilling operations in steel as the primary workpiece material, with secondary compatibility across stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials. The ICP series platform uses a twist insert holding method with a honed cutting edge style, making it appropriate for high-volume production drilling on machining centers where tip replacement is preferred over full drill replacement. The P insert geometry and ISO number ICP 325 indicate fitment within the ICP 32 insert seat size family. This tool conforms to ISO 13399 tooling data standards.
Designed as an OEM-style replaceable tip for use in ICP series drill bodies accepting insert seat size 32, conforming to ISO 13399 tooling interface standards. Specific compatible drill body part numbers were not provided in the product data.
Replaceable carbide tip drills of this type are installed and serviced by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Before tip replacement, the machine spindle must be fully stopped and the tool removed from the spindle or turret per shop lockout/tagout procedures. The twist-lock insert holding method requires proper seating and torquing of the tip into the drill body shank using manufacturer-specified tooling — do not use makeshift tools that may damage the seating surface. Verify coolant-through requirements of the drill body, as this tip does not include coolant-through capability.
