The ISCAR 5506663 is a replaceable drill tip designed for use in indexable drilling systems. Built from solid carbide with a submicron grain material grade and an IC908 manufacturer grade, this tip delivers consistent cutting performance in demanding machining environments. The PVD-applied TiAlN coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection across extended production cycles. With a 1.0200-inch cutting diameter and a 140-degree drill point angle, the 5506663 is engineered for accurate entry and chip evacuation in ferrous and exotic workpiece materials. It is installed by machinists and tooling technicians on CNC machining centers and drill presses.
This replaceable tip is suited for drilling operations in steel as its primary workpiece material, with secondary capability in stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials. The ICP series insert geometry is honed on the cutting edge, and the web-thinned point reduces thrust force at entry. It seats in an insert seat size 25 holder using a twist-type insert holding method. The slow spiral flute type and two-flute configuration support controlled chip flow in a range of production drilling applications across both horizontal and vertical machining setups.
Designed as a replaceable tip for ICP series indexable drill bodies accepting insert seat size 25 holders with a twist-type locking method. Confirm holder compatibility with ISCAR ICP series tooling documentation before installation.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing the drill tip. Use the appropriate ISCAR torx or hex key specified for the ICP seat size to achieve proper clamping without over-torquing the insert pocket. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before installing a new tip to ensure accurate positioning and prevent premature tip failure.
