The ISCAR 5506662 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill in the ICP series, designed for precision hole-making in ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials. The tip features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, a 140-degree included angle with a thinned web point, and a honed cutting edge geometry. The cutting diameter is 1.004 inches, and the tip height is 14.5 mm (0.571 inches). The 2-flute slow spiral design is suited for maintaining chip control in steel and other demanding workpiece materials. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in production or job-shop environments will encounter this tip in high-feed drilling applications.
This replaceable tip drill is intended for drilling operations in steel as its primary workpiece material. Secondary workpiece material compatibility, as stated by the manufacturer, includes stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials. The ICP series uses a twist-style insert holding method and an insert seat size of 25. The slow spiral flute type supports controlled chip evacuation in materials that generate long, stringy chips. This tip is appropriate for use on CNC machining centers where consistent hole geometry and tool life are priorities.
Designed as a replaceable tip for ICP series drill bodies using insert seat size 25, conforming to ISO number ICP 255. Compatible workpiece materials include steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), super-alloys and titanium (S), and hard materials (H) per manufacturer-stated material codes.
Installation is performed by machinist or toolroom personnel on CNC or manual drilling equipment. The drill body must be clean and free of chips at the insert seat before seating the replaceable tip. Follow the tool manufacturer's torque and clamping procedure for the ICP series body; do not use the tip shank as a prying or driving surface. Confirm spindle is at zero RPM and machine is in a safe state before tip change.
