The ISCAR 5505753 is a VNMG-style solid carbide turning insert from the Isoturn series, designed for precision external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Featuring a 35-degree diamond shape with a positive rake geometry and a neutral 0-degree relief angle (clearance code N), this insert is coated with TiAlN and TiN via a PVD process under the IC907 grade designation. The 1/32-inch corner radius and NF chip breaker geometry make it well suited for finishing passes on a range of workpiece materials. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in production or job-shop environments will recognize the Isoturn platform as a dependable OEM-style format.
This insert targets turning applications across multiple ISO material groups, including steel, stainless steel, heat-resistant superalloys, cast iron, non-ferrous materials, and hardened materials (ISO codes H, K, M, N, P, S). It fits standard VNMG toolholders that accept a 9/32-inch inscribed circle and a 5/32-inch insert thickness. Typical applications include finish turning where tight tolerances and controlled chip formation are required. The NF chip breaker geometry supports near-net-shape finishing with low cutting forces.
Designed for use in VNMG-compatible toolholders accepting a 9/32-inch inscribed circle, 5/32-inch insert thickness, and standard M-tolerance, N-clearance insert geometry. Suitable for ISO material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S per the IC907 grade specification.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or tooling technicians. Before indexing or replacing inserts, shut down spindle rotation and confirm the machine is in a safe, locked-out state per shop safety procedures. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not over-tighten the clamp or pin, as this can cause insert fracture or seat damage. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before seating the new insert.
