The ISCAR 5505225 is a replaceable drill tip designed for use with compatible IDI-SG series modular drill bodies. Made from solid carbide in the submicron grain IC908 grade, this tip delivers consistent performance in demanding metal-cutting applications. The 0.717-inch cutting diameter and 140-degree drill point angle provide reliable entry geometry across a range of workpiece materials. A TiAlN coating applied via PVD process adds surface hardness and thermal resistance during extended drilling cycles. The web-thinned point reduces thrust force at drill entry. Installation requires no special tooling beyond proper torque on the twist-lock insert seat. Intended for use by machinists and maintenance technicians working in metalworking and fabrication environments.
This tip is suited for drilling operations in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials, covering ISO material groups P, M, K, S, and H. It fits into size 18 insert seats on IDI-SG series drill bodies. The slow spiral flute type and general-purpose style make it a broadly applicable choice for through-hole and blind-hole drilling in production and job-shop settings. The tip does not support coolant-through delivery. Two flutes provide chip evacuation across the supported workpiece materials.
Designed as a replaceable tip for IDI-SG series modular drill bodies using a size 18 insert seat. ISO number IDI 182-SG. Verify body series and seat size before ordering.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Ensure the drill body and machine spindle are fully stopped and de-energized before replacing the tip. Seat the tip firmly into the insert seat using the twist-lock method and confirm full engagement before resuming operation. Do not exceed the cutting parameters specified in the ISCAR tooling data for this grade and coating.
