The ISCAR 5505198 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill in the IDI-SK series, designed for high-performance drilling in cast iron, steel, stainless steel, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials. The tip carries an IC908 submicron carbide grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, delivering heat resistance and edge durability across a wide range of workpiece materials. The 140-degree included angle with a thinned web point reduces entry force and improves centering. This is a single replaceable tip insert intended for use in compatible IDI-SK drill bodies. It is installed and serviced by machinists and CNC tooling technicians in production and job-shop environments.
The IDI 135-SK insert tip is suited for drilling applications in both ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials. Its slow spiral flute geometry and corner chamfer style make it a practical choice where controlled chip evacuation and edge stability are priorities. The K insert geometry and ISO 13399 standards compliance make this tip compatible with tooling systems that reference standardized insert geometry classifications. Typical applications include drilling cast iron components and steel workpieces on CNC machining centers and manual drill presses where a replaceable tip system is preferred over regrinding solid drills.
Designed as a replaceable tip insert for ISCAR IDI-SK series drill bodies. ISO number IDI 135-SK. Rated for primary use in cast iron (ISO material code K) and secondary use in steel (P), stainless steel (M), super-alloys and titanium (S), and hard materials (H).
This replaceable tip is installed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician into a compatible IDI-SK drill body. Ensure the drill body and machine spindle are fully stopped and de-energized before tip replacement. Seat the insert fully using the twist-lock holding method per the tool body manufacturer instructions before beginning any cut. Do not exceed the cutting parameters specified for IC908 grade in the material being drilled.
