The ISCAR 5505158 is a solid carbide turning insert in the DNMG332NF geometry, manufactured to ISO 13399 standards and assigned manufacturer grade IC907. The insert features a 55-degree diamond shape with a positive rake angle and NF chip breaker configuration, making it well suited for finishing operations on a range of workpiece materials. A PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN dual coating improves wear resistance and thermal stability during interrupted or continuous cuts. The insert measures 11.63 mm (0.4579 inches) in length, carries a 3/8-inch (0.3748-inch) inscribed circle, and has a 3/16-inch (0.1870-inch) thickness. Maximum depth of cut is 3.50 mm (0.1378 inches). It is held by clamp or pin and is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10.
This insert is designed for use in CNC and manual turning centers where precision finishing passes are required. The DNMG geometry suits external and profiling operations on components made from hardened steels, stainless steels, heat-resistant superalloys, and other materials falling within primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician following the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque and seating procedure. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and locating pin for debris or wear before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and edge repeatability. Always verify insert orientation and chip breaker direction against the operation setup sheet before resuming cuts.
