The ISCAR 5505131 is a WNMG 431-TF turning insert manufactured from solid carbide and finished with a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN coating. The insert follows the WNMG (W-shape trigon) geometry with an 80-degree included angle, a 0-degree relief angle (clearance code N), and a TF chip breaker. The inscribed circle measures 0.5 inches, insert length is 8.70 mm (0.3425 inches), insert thickness is 3/16 inches (0.1874 inches), and the corner radius is 1/64 inches (0.0157 inches). Grade IC907 is positioned for demanding cutting applications. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in compatible turning tool holders.
The 5505131 is rated for primary workpiece materials coded H, K, M, N, P, and S under ISO 13399 classification, covering hardened steels, cast irons, general steels, non-ferrous metals, stainless steels, and heat-resistant superalloys. It is suited for external and internal turning operations in both production and job-shop environments. The TF chip breaker geometry supports positive rake cutting action with a maximum depth of cut of 0.1570 inches. The insert is held by clamp or pin methods depending on the tool holder configuration. This is a single-insert package with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit insert for WNMG 431 tool holders using clamp or pin retention. Compatible with workpiece materials rated ISO code H, K, M, N, P, and S. Material grades C7 and C8 apply per standard carbide grade classification.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing inserts. Use the correct torque driver for the clamp screw to avoid cracking the carbide substrate — refer to the tool holder manufacturer's specified seating torque. Inspect the pocket and seating surfaces for debris before inserting to ensure proper contact and prevent premature edge failure.
