The ISCAR 5503723 is a WNMG-style trigon turning insert from the Isoturn series, engineered for precision external turning operations on stainless steel and steel workpieces. The insert carries grade IC530N cermet construction with a PVD-applied TiCN and TiN multilayer coating, providing wear resistance and edge stability at elevated cutting speeds. Key geometry includes an 80-degree included angle, a 0.0157-inch corner radius, and a WG wiper chip breaker. The insert measures 6.52 mm in length with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 5/32-inch thickness. It is installed by licensed machinists and CNC tooling professionals using clamp and pin holding methods.
This insert is suited for finish and semi-finish turning of stainless steel and carbon steel components in production and job-shop environments. The WG wiper geometry reduces surface roughness at higher feed rates, making it appropriate for applications where part finish tolerance is critical. Maximum depth of cut is 3.00 mm (0.1181 inches), positioning this insert for light-to-moderate material removal passes. The Isoturn series is designed for stable, repeatable indexable tooling setups on CNC lathes and turning centers.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement turning insert for WNMG-style indexable toolholders accepting inserts with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, M tolerance, N clearance, and clamp-and-pin holding. Verify toolholder pocket geometry against WNMG insert style specifications before installation.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before accessing the toolholder pocket. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not over-torque the clamp, as this can fracture the insert. Inspect the pocket seat and locating pin for wear or debris before seating the new insert.
