The ISCAR 5503676 is a CNMG 431-NF turning insert from the Isoturn series, manufactured in a cermet substrate with a PVD-applied TiCN and TiN multilayer coating. The insert carries grade IC530N and is designed for external and internal turning operations where tight tolerances and a clean surface finish are the primary goals. At 0.508 inches in length with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch corner radius, this 80-degree diamond-shaped insert handles moderate to light depths of cut up to 0.138 inches. The NF chip breaker geometry produces a positive rake angle suited for reducing cutting forces and controlling chip evacuation in finishing passes.
This insert is intended for turning stainless steel and carbon or alloy steel in CNC lathe and turning center applications. It fits both boring and external turning toolholders that accept CNMG-style inserts with a clamp-and-pin holding method. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops or production environments will find this insert applicable across a range of ISO M and ISO P workpiece material codes. The cermet substrate with PVD coating holds edge integrity well at elevated surface speeds typical in finishing operations on steel and stainless components.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for CNMG 431-NF style toolholders using clamp-and-pin insert retention. Compatible with ISO M and ISO P workpiece materials, specifically stainless steel and steel. Insert grade IC530N is part of the ISCAR Isoturn series.
Indexable turning inserts should be installed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator following the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque specifications. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating, indexing, or replacing inserts. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamp for debris or wear before installing a fresh insert, as a contaminated pocket will compromise edge geometry and surface finish. Verify that the insert is fully seated and the clamp pin is engaged before resuming cutting operations.
