The ISCAR 4501453 is an ER40 collet chuck with a CAT40 taper shank, designed for precision tool holding in CNC machining centers. It accepts ER40 collets with a capacity range of 0.12 to 1.025 inches, covering a wide variety of cutting tool shank diameters. The chuck features a 4-inch projection from the gauge line and holds a total indicated runout (TIR) of 0.0001 inches, supporting tight-tolerance milling, drilling, and reaming operations. Through-spindle and DIN flange coolant delivery is supported, directing fluid directly to the cutting zone. This chuck is installed and set up by CNC machinists and tool crib technicians in production and job shop environments.
This collet chuck is suited for use in CAT40-spindle vertical and horizontal machining centers running moderate to high spindle speeds. The 4-inch projection provides clearance for deep-pocket and multi-axis work where a standard-length holder would interfere with the workpiece or fixture. The unit is balanced to 20,000 RPM, making it compatible with high-speed machining applications where vibration and runout must be minimized. Shops running aluminum, steel, and non-ferrous materials in production quantities will benefit from the through-coolant capability, which reduces heat buildup and chip recutting at depth.
Designed for use with CAT40-spindle machining centers that accept V-flange tool holders. Requires ER40 series collets, sold separately.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician familiar with V-flange tooling and torque procedures. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before loading or unloading the holder. Use a calibrated torque wrench and the appropriate ER40 spanner nut wrench when seating collets to ensure consistent clamping force. Inspect the CAT40 taper and spindle bore for contamination or damage before seating the holder, as debris on either surface will degrade runout performance.
