The ISCAR 3600016 is a BBS-style indexable boring bar designed for internal turning operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Part of the Isoturn series, it accepts TP.. 2 triangular inserts held by a screw-clamp method and runs at a neutral rake angle of 0 degrees with a 91-degree lead angle. The shank measures 0.5 inches in diameter with an overall length of 5 inches, making it suitable for reaching into bores starting at a minimum diameter of 0.394 inches. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this tool in standard boring bar holders to perform precision internal diameter finishing and roughing passes.
This boring bar is intended for turning applications where close-tolerance internal bores are required. The 0.394-inch minimum bore diameter and 0.22-inch center-to-cutting-edge dimension allow it to enter tight workpiece bores. The Isoturn series is built to ISO 13399 standards, which means toolholder data integrates directly into CAM and tool-management software without manual re-entry. It is a single-use configuration tool, not a multi-use modular assembly, so setup is straightforward. Typical applications include finishing bores on steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous workpieces in job shop and production environments.
Designed to accept ISCAR TP.. 2 triangular indexable inserts with a compatible insert size code of 2. Consult the Isoturn series insert selection guide to confirm specific TP.. 2 insert grades and geometries for the target workpiece material.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Before mounting, power down the machine spindle and confirm the turret or tool block is fully locked out per shop lockout/tagout procedures. Secure the 0.5-inch shank in a clean, properly sized boring bar holder and torque the clamping fasteners according to the machine tool manufacturer specification. Insert replacement should be done with the bar removed from the machine or with the turret indexed to a safe position away from the workpiece.
