The ISCAR 3398647 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for demanding metal removal in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. It runs a 1/2-inch mill diameter with a 7/8-inch length of cut and a 4-inch overall length. The five-flute geometry, variable index spacing, and AlTiCrSiN PVD coating combine to deliver stable, efficient cutting across both roughing and finishing operations. Material grade is submicron carbide, part of the ISCAR ECI-5-VF series. Designed for single-end use with right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting, this tool seats in a standard straight-cylindrical toolholder with an h6 shank diameter tolerance.
This end mill is suited for CNC machining centers and milling machines used in job shops, production floors, and tool rooms. Its extended reach configuration, with a 2-1/8-inch reach length, makes it practical for cavity work and shoulder milling where standard-reach tools fall short. Primary applications include profiling, slotting, and semi-finish to finish passes on steel alloys, stainless grades, cast iron, nickel-based superalloys, titanium, and hardened workpiece materials. The normal pitch and spiral flute type support chip evacuation across these varied material groups.
Designed for use with standard straight-cylindrical toolholders. Shank diameter is 1/2 inch with h6 tolerance. Part of the ISCAR ECI-5-VF series; manufacturers catalog number ECI-5 .5-.88/2.13CVF4.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the tool from the toolholder. Seat the shank fully to the recommended engagement depth for the toolholder style in use and torque the retention screw per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for chips or wear before each use, as damaged edges accelerate tool failure and affect surface finish.
