The ISCAR 3398560 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill from the ECI-5-VF series, designed for demanding material removal in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. It carries a 0.5 inch mill diameter with a 0.015 inch corner radius and runs 5 flutes in a right-hand spiral configuration. The submicron carbide substrate is finished with an AlTiCrSiN PVD coating, which extends tool life in high-heat, abrasive cutting conditions. A variable index design helps reduce harmonic vibration during aggressive roughing and finishing passes. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling technicians install this end mill in standard toolholder setups.
This end mill fits residential and commercial machine shop applications where tight tolerances and surface finish quality are required across ferrous and exotic alloys. The short flute length and extended reach geometry make it well suited for pocketing, slotting, and profiling in hardened or difficult-to-machine workpieces. The 1/2 inch straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance provides a secure, repeatable fit in collet and shrink-fit toolholders. Typical applications include finish milling hardened steel components, profiling stainless steel parts, and roughing titanium and superalloy features where tool stability and edge retention are critical.
Designed for use with standard collet, hydraulic, and shrink-fit toolholders accepting a 1/2 inch straight-cylindrical shank. The h6 shank diameter tolerance ensures a precise fit in high-accuracy toolholding systems. Compatible with CNC machining centers running steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials per the P, M, K, S, and H material application codes.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the spindle fully powered down and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank to the full gauge line depth in the toolholder and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on carbide tooling. Follow shop-specific speeds and feeds for the workpiece material and do not exceed the rated depth of cut for the flute geometry.
