The ISCAR 3398529 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining environments. With a 3/8 inch cutting diameter and a 1-1/2 inch length of cut, it handles slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling across a range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 5-flute configuration increases feed rates and improves surface finish compared to standard 4-flute tools. A 38-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. The TiAlCN coating adds heat resistance and wear protection, extending tool life in demanding applications. This end mill is installed and operated by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working on CNC machining centers and manual mills.
This end mill suits general-purpose and production milling tasks in job shops, manufacturing facilities, and tool rooms. The variable index geometry helps reduce vibration and chatter during cuts, making it a practical choice for finishing passes and semi-finishing operations. The right-hand cutting direction and right-hand spiral flutes are standard for most vertical and horizontal CNC setups. The single-end design and 3/8 inch shank diameter make it compatible with standard collet chucks and end mill holders commonly found in production environments.
Designed for use with standard 3/8 inch collet chucks and end mill holders on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines configured for right-hand cutting tools.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by qualified machinists with the spindle fully stopped and the machine powered down or in a safe mode. Use a properly sized collet or end mill holder torqued to the machine manufacturer's specification to prevent tool pullout. Inspect the shank and collet for wear or contamination before seating the tool. Follow applicable shop safety protocols and machine guarding requirements during operation.
