The ISCAR 3398505 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for high-performance metal removal in demanding machining environments. Built on the Flash Solid series platform, it features a 0.5 inch mill diameter, a 2.5 inch length of cut, and a 5 inch overall length with a 0.5 inch shank diameter. The tool carries an AlTiCrSiN coating for superior heat resistance and wear life at elevated cutting speeds. With 5 flutes, a 45-degree helix angle, and a variable index design, it is engineered for both roughing and finishing passes in a single setup. CNC machinists and tool-and-die professionals rely on this geometry for deep-reach applications requiring tight tolerances.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys — material codes P, M, K, and S. The extended reach configuration and right-hand cutting and flute direction make it a standard choice for vertical machining centers and milling operations where axial depth and tool stability are critical. Single-end construction means the tool is replaced rather than indexed when worn. It is commonly used in production shops, aerospace component work, and precision mold work where surface finish and material integrity are both required.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide ball end mill in the ISCAR Flash Solid series, compatible with standard 1/2 inch collet chucks, hydraulic holders, and shrink-fit toolholders on vertical and horizontal machining centers. Catalog reference: EBI-5 .5-2.5CVF5.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the holder to the recommended gauge-line depth and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before committing to the first cut.
