Product Description

The ISCAR 3398385 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. It features a 3/4-inch mill diameter, a 0.015-inch corner radius, and five flutes arranged in a right-hand spiral with a variable index geometry. The 38-degree helix and variable index configuration reduce chatter and harmonic vibration, making it effective for both roughing and finishing passes. The tool carries an AlTiCrSiN PVD coating applied over a submicron carbide grade, providing elevated heat resistance and extended tool life when cutting ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials. A licensed machinist or CNC tool programmer typically selects and deploys this type of cutter.

This end mill is built for use on CNC machining centers cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium, as well as hard materials. The extended-reach design, with a 2.25-inch reach length and a 2.25-inch length of cut, allows access to features requiring clearance from the shank. The 5-inch overall length and straight-cylindrical, h6-tolerance shank seat directly into a standard toolholder. It is classified as medium length and is suitable for slotting, profiling, and contour operations where corner geometry integrity is critical.

Installation Notes

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before mounting or removing the tool. Seat the shank fully in a clean, properly sized collet or end-mill holder and torque the retention hardware per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the corner radius and flute edges for chipping before each use, as carbide tools are brittle and sensitive to impact damage.
