The ISCAR 3398187 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for demanding metal removal in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Part of the ECI-4-VF series, it features a 1/2 inch diameter, 4 flutes, and a 0.09 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge. The AlTiCrSiN PVD coating delivers high hardness and thermal resistance, supporting both roughing and finishing passes in a single tool. Variable index geometry minimizes chatter and harmonic vibration during aggressive cuts. The extra-long 6 inch overall length and 3 inch reach make it well suited for deep-cavity and long-reach applications where standard-length tools cannot access the workpiece.
This end mill is designed for use in CNC machining centers and milling machines where the toolholder accepts a straight cylindrical 1/2 inch shank with h6 tolerance. It performs in ferrous and exotic alloy applications across aerospace, die and mold, and general precision machining environments. Right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting designation are standard for conventional CNC toolpath programming. The centercutting design allows plunge entry. With a 3 inch length of cut and a 0.47 inch cutting edge length, it handles both slotting and peripheral milling in deep features.
Designed for use with standard toolholders accepting a 1/2 inch straight cylindrical shank with h6 shank diameter tolerance. Rated for primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials per ISO material codes P, M, K, S, and H.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the tool from the toolholder. Confirm the h6 shank tolerance is within the toolholder bore specification before tightening to prevent runout. Follow the machine manufacturer and toolholder manufacturer torque and clamping guidelines; do not rely on feel alone for retention force.
