The ISCAR 3398157 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill from the ECI-4-VF series, designed for high-performance milling in demanding materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The tool features a 5/8-inch diameter with a 0.06-inch corner radius and four flutes ground to a variable index geometry, allowing both roughing and finishing operations in a single tool. An AlTiCrSiN PVD coating delivers thermal and oxidation resistance at elevated cutting speeds. Installed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians, this end mill is suited for production environments where tool life and surface finish consistency are critical.
This end mill is intended for use in vertical and horizontal machining centers as well as manual knee mills with appropriate toolholders. The straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance ensures accurate, repeatable runout in precision collets and end mill holders. The short flute length classification with extended reach geometry makes it well-suited for slotting, profiling, and pocket milling in ferrous and exotic alloy workpieces where corner integrity and edge stability are priorities. It is a single-end, centercutting design, enabling plunge entry as well as conventional and climb milling passes.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders accepting a 5/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank with h6 diameter tolerance. Primary workpiece materials are steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys and titanium, and hard materials (ISO material codes P, M, K, S, H).
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked before inserting or removing the end mill from the toolholder. Verify collet or holder bore size matches the 5/8-inch shank and that the tool is seated to the recommended gauge-line depth per the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Inspect the cutting edges and corner radius for chips or wear before each setup, as carbide end mills in hard-material applications are susceptible to edge microchipping if seated improperly or run at incorrect parameters.
