The ISCAR 3398106 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill from the ECI-4-VF series, designed for demanding metal removal in roughing and finishing operations. It features a 3/4 inch diameter with a 0.03 inch corner radius, four variable-index flutes, and a 38-degree helix angle. The cutting geometry is right-hand with a spiral flute configuration, and the tool is coated with AlTiCrSiN via a PVD process for extended tool life in hard and abrasive workpiece materials. At 5 inches overall length with a 3 inch reach, this end mill handles extended-reach applications while maintaining rigidity through its straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials in both production and job-shop environments. The centercutting design allows plunge entry, and the short-length classification makes it appropriate for vertical machining centers and horizontal mills where tool rigidity and vibration control are priorities. The variable index flute spacing reduces harmonic chatter, which is particularly useful when profiling hardened components or finishing tight-tolerance features in aerospace and die-mold work.
Compatible with standard straight-bore toolholders accepting a 3/4 inch shank diameter. The h6 shank tolerance ensures accurate fitment in precision collet chucks, shrink-fit holders, and hydraulic toolholders. Designed for use per the ECI-4-VF series catalog (manufacturers catalog number ECI-4 750-1.25/3.0C03VF5).
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician with the machine in a full e-stop state and spindle power locked out. Ensure the shank is fully seated in the toolholder to the minimum recommended grip depth before tightening. Do not exceed the toolholder manufacturer's specified runout tolerance, as excessive runout will accelerate corner radius wear on this geometry. Confirm coolant strategy prior to use — this tool does not have through-spindle coolant capability.
