The ISCAR 3398094 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill from the ECI-4-VF series, designed for high-performance milling in demanding material applications. The tool features a 1/2 inch cutting diameter, a 0.03 inch corner radius, and 4 flutes with a variable index geometry that supports both roughing and finishing operations in a single tool. An AlTiCrSiN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection when cutting at elevated speeds. The extra-long configuration and 5 inch overall length make it suitable for deep-cavity and extended-reach work where standard-length tools cannot access the cut zone.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers and is compatible with standard straight-cylindrical toolholders with an h6 shank tolerance fit. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials, covering ISO material classifications P, M, K, S, and H. The centercutting design permits plunge entry, and right-hand flute direction with right-hand cutting orientation suits conventional vertical and horizontal milling setups. Machinists working in aerospace, die and mold, and general metalworking will find this tool appropriate for deep-pocket and side-wall milling operations.
Designed for use with straight-cylindrical toolholders accepting a 1/2 inch shank with h6 tolerance. Suitable for CNC milling applications in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. ISCAR catalog reference ECI-4 500-2.12C03VF5.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the toolholder collet or chuck to the recommended gauge line depth and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before initiating the first cut, as excessive runout will accelerate edge wear on carbide tooling.
