The ISCAR 3398085 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill from the ECI-4-VF series, designed for high-performance milling in demanding materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. It features a 7/16 inch (0.4370 inch) cutting diameter with a 0.03 inch corner radius, a 3 inch length of cut, and a 6 inch overall length. The submicron carbide substrate is coated with AlTiCrSiN via a PVD process, providing excellent wear resistance and thermal stability at elevated cutting temperatures. Four flutes with a variable index and right-hand spiral configuration support both roughing and finishing operations in a single tool.
This end mill is built for extended-reach applications where standard-length tooling cannot access deep pockets or tall workpiece features. The straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance ensures accurate seating in a compatible toolholder. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry, and the single-end configuration is standard for this tool class. It is well suited to CNC machining centers used in aerospace, die-mold, and precision part manufacturing where tight tolerances and difficult workpiece materials are common. A licensed machinist or CNC setup technician typically selects and installs this tool.
Designed for use with a compatible toolholder accepting a 7/16 inch straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance. Part of the ISCAR ECI-4-VF series; the manufacturers catalog number for this configuration is ECI-4 437-3.0C03VF6.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the tool-change position confirmed safe before inserting or removing the end mill. Verify that the toolholder bore is clean and free of chips before seating the shank, and torque the collet or set screw to the toolholder manufacturers specification. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before committing to a production cut, particularly for tight-tolerance or hard-material applications.
