The ISCAR 3398037 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill from the ECI-4-VF series, designed for high-performance milling across a wide range of demanding workpiece materials. It carries a 5/8 inch (0.625 inch) cutting diameter, a 1 inch length of cut, and a 4 inch overall length, making it well suited for short-reach applications where rigidity matters. The AlTiCrSiN PVD coating extends tool life in heat-intensive cuts. With four flutes, right-hand cutting and flute direction, variable index geometry, and a 38-degree helix angle, this end mill handles both roughing and finishing passes. A 0.015 inch corner radius reduces corner chipping and promotes cleaner transitions at part features. The shank diameter is 0.625 inches with an h6 tolerance for consistent toolholder fit.
This end mill is rated for use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials, covering ISO material codes P, M, K, S, and H. It is centercutting, allowing plunge entry, and the extended reach configuration with a 2 inch reach length gives access to deeper pockets without sacrificing shank integrity. The straight-cylindrical shank is compatible with standard collet chucks and toolholders. It is a single-end tool with a submicron carbide grade and normal pitch flute spacing. Typical applications include die and mold work, aerospace component machining, and general precision part manufacturing where tight tolerances and surface finish are required.
Designed for use with standard collet-style and hydraulic toolholders accepting a 5/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank. The manufacturer catalog reference for this tool is ECI-4 625-1.0/2.0C015VF4.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the toolholder and spindle are clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Verify runout with a dial indicator after clamping, as the h6 shank tolerance is intended for close-fit holders. Follow machine tool manufacturer guidelines for maximum spindle speed and feed rate when cutting superalloys or hard materials, and confirm coolant strategy before beginning a cut.
