The ISCAR 3398033 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill from the ECI-4-VF series, designed for demanding material removal in both roughing and finishing applications. It carries a 1/2 inch cutting diameter, a 1-1/2 inch length of cut, and a 0.015 inch corner radius that extends tool life at the cutting edge. The AlTiCrSiN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection in high-speed cutting environments. With a variable index geometry and right-hand spiral flute direction, the 3398033 reduces chatter and improves chip evacuation. It is installed and operated by machinists and CNC tool-room technicians in production and maintenance environments.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The centercutting design allows plunge entry, making it useful for slotting, profiling, and pocket milling operations. The extended reach configuration with a 1-1/2 inch reach length supports work in deeper cavities or against stepped part features. It is compatible with standard straight-shank toolholders accepting a 1/2 inch shank diameter with h6 tolerance, which is common in ISO and ANSI collet systems used in CNC machining centers.
Designed for use with standard straight-shank toolholders accepting a 1/2 inch shank diameter. Compatible with workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials per ISO material codes P, M, K, S, and H. Manufacturers catalog number ECI-4 500-1.5C015VF4.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is secured in a clean, properly sized collet or toolholder before tightening. Verify runout with a dial indicator after seating, as excessive runout accelerates wear on a corner radius geometry. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and ISCAR cutting data recommendations for feed rate, depth of cut, and spindle speed when transitioning between roughing and finishing passes.
