The ISCAR 3398032 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance metal removal in demanding machining applications. It features a 1/2 inch diameter, a 1-1/4 inch length of cut, and a 0.015 inch corner radius that protects the cutting edge and improves surface finish at part corners. The flute geometry runs in a right-hand spiral with a variable index design, enabling both roughing and finishing passes in a single tool. An AlTiCrSiN PVD coating delivers thermal resistance and hardness at elevated cutting temperatures. This tool is intended for use in CNC machining centers and mills operated by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in production and job shop environments.
The 3398032 is engineered for cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. It is part of the ISCAR ECI-4-VF series, which targets extended-reach applications with a 1-1/4 inch reach length and a 3 inch overall length. The straight cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance mounts directly into standard toolholders. Its centercutting capability allows plunge entry, and the normal pitch with spiral flutes supports chip evacuation across a range of cutting conditions. Recommended for medium-length applications where rigidity and coating performance are both required.
Designed for use with standard cylindrical toolholders accepting a 1/2 inch straight shank with h6 diameter tolerance. Compatible with CNC machining centers and milling machines running right-hand cutting direction. Part of the ISCAR ECI-4-VF series; manufacturers catalog number ECI-4 500-1.25C015VF3.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer torque and runout specifications. Ensure the shank is fully seated and clean before tightening the collet or endmill holder to avoid runout that can damage the cutting edge. Verify spindle speed and feed rate settings match the workpiece material and depth of cut before engaging the tool. Do not exceed the rated length of cut when side milling, as overhanging beyond the flute length increases deflection and risk of breakage.
