The ISCAR 3203207 is a replaceable-tip drill body in the SumoCham DCN series, designed for precision holemaking in metal cutting applications. It accepts a range of interchangeable drill-tip inserts rather than using a fixed cutting edge, allowing worn tips to be swapped without replacing the entire body. The drill covers a diameter range of 0.335 to 0.351 inches, reaches a maximum drill depth of 2.68 inches (8xD ratio), and has an overall length of 5.05 inches. A 1/2-inch Weldon Flat shank provides positive rotational engagement in compatible tool holders. Through-coolant capability delivers cutting fluid directly to the cutting zone, extending insert life and improving chip evacuation in deep-hole operations. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary installers of this tooling.
This drill body is suited for production holemaking in job shop and manufacturing environments where consistent hole quality and rapid tip changeover are priorities. The SumoCham platform is optimized for use in CNC machining centers and drill presses capable of utilizing through-spindle coolant. The 8xD depth-to-diameter ratio makes it appropriate for moderate-depth drilling in steel, cast iron, and similar workpiece materials where insert-based tooling delivers a cost-per-hole advantage over solid carbide alternatives.
Compatible insert styles: FCP, ICK, ICK-2M, ICM, ICN, ICP, and iCP-2M at insert seat size 8. Part of the ISCAR SumoCham DCN toolholder series. Designed for use in machine spindles or tool holders accepting a 1/2-inch Weldon Flat shank.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel familiar with modular drill systems. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing the drill tip insert. Ensure the Weldon Flat shank is fully engaged and the set screw is tightened per the machine tool manufacturer's specification using the appropriate hex key. Verify through-coolant connections are clear and delivering adequate pressure before initiating a cut.
