The ISCAR 3202948 is a replaceable-tip drill body from the SumoCham series, designed for precision holemaking in metal fabrication and machining applications. The drill body accepts replaceable cutting tips, allowing the technician to swap worn inserts without replacing the entire tool. It covers a diameter range of 0.295 to 0.311 inches with a maximum drill depth of 1.48 inches and features through-coolant delivery to manage chip evacuation and heat at the cutting zone. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 0.5 inches in diameter, making it compatible with standard chuck-style or collet toolholding systems. This tool is installed by machinists and CNC operators working with drill presses, machining centers, and lathes equipped for rotary holemaking.
The ISCAR 3202948 is suited for production holemaking in shop environments where insert interchangeability reduces downtime. The 5xD depth-to-diameter ratio supports moderate-depth drilling without peck cycles in many materials. Through-coolant capability makes it appropriate for applications involving ferrous metals, stainless, and other materials where heat management at the cutting face is critical. The DCN toolholder style body seats insert size 7, which accepts multiple compatible insert geometries depending on the workpiece material and finish requirement.
The 3202948 drill body is compatible with the following insert styles: FCP, ICK, ICK-2M, ICM, ICN, ICP, and iCP-2M, all at insert seat size 7. It is part of the ISCAR SumoCham DCN series of replaceable-tip drill bodies.
Installation and insert changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully de-energized and the machine in a locked-out state per applicable shop safety procedures. Ensure the insert seat is clean and free of chips before seating a new tip, as debris under the insert can affect runout and tool life. Through-coolant connection must be confirmed at the toolholder interface before operation. Refer to the machine tool manufacturer and ISCAR tooling documentation for recommended clamping torque and runout tolerances specific to the holder configuration.
