The ISCAR 2800743 is an external right-hand indexable grooving toolholder designed for precision grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the Cut Grip series in a PHS toolholder style, it accepts GDMW 2.4 inserts secured by a screw-clamp holding method. The toolholder handles groove widths from 0.094 inches to 0.125 inches and reaches a maximum depth of cut of 0.625 inches. At 5.9 inches overall length with a 0.63 inches x 0.63 inches square shank and a shank length of 4.95 inches, it fits standard lathe tool blocks without modification. The tool is manufactured from steel and is rated for universal primary workpiece material compatibility across ISO material groups.
This toolholder is suited for external non-face grooving applications in both production and job-shop turning environments. It supports a maximum workpiece diameter of 1.26 inches and has a back-of-bar to cutting edge measurement of 0.594 inches, making it appropriate for tight-clearance grooving setups. The head length is 0.95 inches. Licensed machinists and CNC turning technicians performing OD grooving, necking, or parting-adjacent operations on steel, cast iron, non-ferrous, and high-temperature alloy workpieces will find this toolholder a direct fit. It does not include coolant-through capability.
Compatible with GDMW 2.4 series grooving inserts. The MSC/Manufacturer cross-reference number for this toolholder is PHSR/L 16-2.4. Designed as an OEM-style Cut Grip series PHS toolholder replacement or new installation for external right-hand grooving applications on CNC lathes accepting a 0.63 inches square shank.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician with the machine in an E-stop or powered-down state and all rotating motion fully stopped before handling the toolholder. Secure the shank in the tool block per machine tool builder torque guidelines using appropriate lathe tool block hardware. Confirm insert seating and screw torque with each insert change before resuming cutting. Do not exceed the rated maximum depth of cut or groove width specified for the GDMW 2.4 insert grade in use.
