The ISCAR 2302395 is a left-hand indexable grooving and cutoff toolholder from the Tang-Grip series, designed for external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It accepts TAG-style inserts secured by a clamp-style holding method, providing rigid, repeatable edge positioning during grooving and parting operations. The toolholder features a 16 x 16 mm square shank and through-coolant capability, directing high-pressure coolant directly to the cutting zone for improved chip evacuation and tool life. Maximum depth of cut is 17.5 mm (0.689 inches), and it handles groove widths from 1.8 mm to 2.5 mm. Overall length is 120 mm (4.724 inches). Machining shops and CNC toolroom technicians typically specify this holder for precision grooving and part-off work on small-to-medium diameter workpieces.
This toolholder is suited for external grooving and cutoff applications on CNC turning equipment. The left-hand orientation accommodates specific spindle direction or gang-tool configurations where a right-hand holder would interfere. Through-coolant support makes it appropriate for higher-speed operations and difficult-to-machine materials where heat and chip control are critical. The Tang-Grip design provides a secure insert seat that resists the lateral and axial forces generated during cutoff operations. It is used in production turning environments requiring consistent groove geometry and repeatable insert indexing.
Compatible with the following TAG insert families: TAG N-A, TAG N-C/W/M, TAG N-J/JS/JT, TAG N-LF, TAG N-UT, TAG R/L-C, and TAG R/L-J/JS. Insert size code 2 applies. Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit toolholder within the ISCAR Tang-Grip external grooving system.
Installation and insert changes should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician with the machine in a fully stopped, de-energized, and locked-out state. Ensure the shank pocket or tool block is clean and free of chips before seating the holder. Torque the clamping screw per the insert manufacturer instructions using calibrated tooling — do not estimate by feel. Verify coolant port alignment with the machine tool interface before activating through-coolant flow.
