The ISCAR 2301531 is a right-hand indexable grooving and cutoff toolholder in the Do-Grip series, designed for external turning applications on CNC lathes and turning centers. It accepts DG-series inserts secured by a clamp-style insert holding method, providing rigid, repeatable positioning for high-precision groove and cutoff operations. The toolholder carries an overall length of 4.7 inches and a shank height and width of 0.5 inches, making it compatible with standard 1/2-inch square shank tool blocks. Groove widths from 0.075 to 0.098 inches are supported. This toolholder is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians working in production turning environments.
This toolholder is suited for external grooving and parting-off operations on metalworking lathes where precise groove width control is required. The DGT-style geometry and clamp retention system are optimized for Do-Grip insert grades, supporting applications in steel, stainless, and non-ferrous materials. The right-hand orientation positions the cutting edge for standard front-tool-post setups. The 0.47-inch back-of-bar to cutting-edge dimension and 0.75-inch head length suit moderate-depth grooving and clean cutoff passes in production and job-shop environments.
Compatible insert families include DGN/DGNM-J/JS/JT and DGR/L-J/JS inserts. Verified compatible inserts include DGL 1001J-8D, DGL 1400JS-15D, DGL 1402J-8D, DGL 2200JS-15D, DGL 2200JS-6D, DGL 2202C-6D, DGL 2202J-6D, DGL 3100JS-15D, DGL 3100JS-6D, DGL 3102C-15D, DGL 3102C-6D, DGL 3102J-15D, DGL 3102J-6D, DGL 4003C-4D, DGL 4003J-4D, DGL 5003C-4D, DGL 5003J-4D, and DGL 630 series inserts. Insert seat size is 0.1.
This toolholder is installed by machinists or toolroom technicians; always power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing toolholders or inserts. Seat the toolholder squarely in the tool block and verify shank clamping torque per the machine tool manufacturer's specifications. Inspect the insert seat and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating a new insert, as contamination can affect groove width accuracy. Follow applicable shop safety procedures and machine manufacturer guidelines during setup.
