The ISCAR 2301393 is a left-hand indexable grooving and cut-off toolholder in the Do-Grip series, designed for external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It accepts DG-style indexable inserts secured by a clamp-style holding method, providing rigid, repeatable insert positioning under interrupted cuts and continuous grooving passes. The toolholder features a 20 x 20 mm square shank with an overall length of 140 mm (5.512 inches), handles groove widths from 1.9 to 2.5 mm, and allows a maximum depth of cut of 17.5 mm (0.689 inches). It is intended for use by machinists and toolroom professionals running production or job-shop turning operations.
This toolholder is suited for external grooving and parting-off applications on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces in both production and job-shop environments. The DGT-style body and Do-Grip clamping system are engineered for precision groove geometry control when dimensional consistency between passes is critical. The 20 mm square shank fits standard tool block and turret pockets sized for that cross-section. No coolant-through capability is present on this holder, so external coolant delivery should be planned accordingly during setup.
Compatible with DG-series indexable inserts including DGN-LF/LFT, DGN-P, DGN-UT/UA, DGN-WP, DGN-Z, DGN/DGNC/DGNM-C, DGN/DGNM-J/JS/JT, DGR-WP, DGR/L-C, DGRC/LC-C, DGR/L-J/JS, DGR/L-P, and DGR/L-Z/ZS. Insert size codes DGN/DGNM-J/JS/JT and DGR/L-J/JS are the primary compatible families for this holder body.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Confirm that the machine turret or tool block pocket matches the 20 x 20 mm shank dimensions before mounting, and torque all clamping bolts per the machine tool manufacturer specifications. Power down and lock out the turning center before changing the toolholder or indexing inserts. Because this holder has no coolant-through capability, verify that external coolant lines are positioned to direct flow to the cutting zone before running the first part.
