The IRWIN IR15104 is a step drill bit designed for drilling multiple hole sizes with a single tool. It covers a minimum diameter of 3/16 inches up to a maximum diameter of 7/8 inches, advancing in 1/16-inch increments across 12 steps. The bit features a titanium nitride coating that extends cutting life and reduces heat buildup during use. It is suited for electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, and other trade professionals who need clean, accurate holes in sheet metal, thin steel, plastics, and similar materials without swapping bits.
This step drill bit is commonly used in light commercial and residential applications where a range of hole sizes is required in a single work session. Typical uses include punching knockouts in electrical enclosures, drilling conduit entry points, and creating port holes in sheet metal ductwork or panels. The 3/8-inch shank fits standard drill chucks. Maximum recommended material thickness is 1/8 inch.
Designed for use in standard 3/8-inch or larger drill chucks for drilling sheet metal, thin steel, aluminum, and plastic panels up to 1/8 inch in material thickness.
Step drill bits of this type are installed and operated by licensed electricians, plumbers, and HVAC technicians working with sheet metal and thin-gauge materials. Ensure the workpiece is secured before drilling and use appropriate personal protective equipment including eye protection. Apply consistent, moderate pressure and allow the bit to do the work to avoid overheating the coating. Do not use on materials thicker than the rated maximum of 1/8 inch.
