The IRWIN INDUSTRIAL TOOL CO 91156 is a 7/8 inch Silver Deming drill bit engineered for heavy-duty hole making in metal, wood, and plastic. The bit is constructed from M-7 high speed steel, which provides strong resistance to abrasion during demanding drilling operations. A 3-flatted shank design improves chuck grip and reduces slippage during use, making it compatible with keyless chucks. Each bit measures 6 inches in overall length with a 1/2 inch reduced shank that fits all standard 1/2 inch drills. The 118-degree point angle is a general-purpose geometry suited to a wide range of materials and applications. Sold in a package of 6.
This Silver Deming bit is well suited to automotive repair, body shop work, metal fabrication, and general trade applications where large-diameter holes are required. The 1/2 inch reduced shank makes it accessible without requiring a large-capacity drill press or specialized chuck. Electricians, HVAC technicians, plumbers, and metal fabricators routinely use Silver Deming bits when standard jobber-length bits cannot accommodate the required hole diameter. The M-7 steel construction holds up to repeated use in ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
Fits all standard 1/2 inch drill chucks, including keyless chuck designs. Suitable for use in drill presses and handheld drills with a 1/2 inch capacity.
Secure the 1/2 inch reduced shank firmly in the chuck before drilling and confirm the bit is centered before applying load. When drilling into metal, use a center punch to prevent the bit from walking at startup. Apply cutting fluid or oil when drilling ferrous metals to extend bit life and improve hole quality. Disconnect power to any drill press and verify the workpiece is properly clamped before beginning.
