The IRWIN 66405 is a wax lumber crayon in white, designed for marking rough lumber, concrete, pipe, metal, and other job-site materials where standard pencils or markers fail to leave a visible line. The wax formula bonds to dry and slightly damp surfaces, leaving a bold mark that stays readable through handling and staging. Carpenters, pipefitters, ironworkers, and general contractors reach for this crayon when they need a fast, reliable mark on materials that will be cut, drilled, or sorted. The white color provides contrast on dark or treated surfaces where standard colors blend in.
The 66405 is suited for residential and commercial construction sites, fabrication shops, and lumber yards. It is commonly used to mark stud locations, cut lines, pipe runs, and bundle identification on rough-cut lumber, black iron pipe, concrete block, and structural steel. The white color is a practical choice when working with pressure-treated or dark-stained lumber, or any substrate where yellow and red crayons lack sufficient contrast.
Designed as a general-purpose wax lumber crayon compatible with standard lumber crayon holders and suitable for use on wood, concrete, pipe, and metal substrates common to construction and fabrication work.
No installation is required for this marking consumable. Keep the crayon dry and capped or stored in a pouch when not in use to prevent breakage. On very smooth or oily metal surfaces, clean the area with a dry rag before marking to improve adhesion. Replace when the crayon becomes too short to grip safely.
