The IRWIN INDUSTRIAL TOOL CO 53406 is a Size 6 spiral screw extractor designed to remove broken studs, bolts, socket screws, and fittings from metal workpieces. The aggressive left-hand spiral flute geometry embeds deeper into the damaged fastener as the tool is turned, so grip increases as fastener resistance increases. This self-tightening action makes it effective on seized or sheared fasteners in pipe, structural, and mechanical assemblies. Each pack contains 3 extractors. A 13/32-inch drill bit is required for pilot hole preparation before use. This tool is commonly used by HVAC technicians, plumbers, electricians, and general maintenance professionals.
The 53406 is suited for removal of broken bolts and screws ranging from 5/8 inches to 7/8 inches in diameter, as well as 3/8-inch NPT and 3/8-inch BSP pipe fittings, and metric fasteners from 16 mm to 22 mm. Typical applications include extracting sheared flange bolts, broken pipe nipple stubs, and stripped socket-head fasteners in residential and light commercial mechanical systems.
Designed for use on broken or damaged fasteners ranging from 5/8 inches to 7/8 inches, 3/8-inch NPT, 3/8-inch BSP, and 16 mm to 22 mm metric fasteners. Use with a 13/32-inch drill bit.
This tool is used by licensed trade professionals and maintenance technicians working on mechanical, plumbing, or HVAC systems. Before extraction, de-energize or isolate the system and relieve any pressure from the assembly being serviced. Drill a pilot hole with a 13/32-inch drill bit to the appropriate depth before inserting the extractor. Use a tap wrench or appropriately sized driver to turn the extractor counterclockwise into the fastener until it is freed.
