The IPS 88386 is a mechanical test plug designed to seal open-ended pipes during pressure testing and inspection. The plug uses a rubber sealing ring to create a firm, reliable seal against the inner pipe wall. At 1-1/2 inches, it fits standard pipe openings and provides a cost-effective solution for plumbers and pipefitters who need a dependable temporary plug during rough-in, hydrostatic, or pneumatic test procedures. The compact design makes it easy to install and remove without special tooling.
This test plug is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing applications where open pipe ends must be temporarily sealed during system testing. It is commonly used during drain, waste, and vent inspections, as well as water supply rough-in stages where code-required pressure tests must be performed before walls are closed in.
Designed as an OEM-style mechanical test plug for 1-1/2 inch open-ended pipe applications in standard residential and commercial plumbing systems.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters during rough-in and inspection stages. Shut off any water supply and relieve system pressure before inserting or removing the plug. Follow local plumbing code requirements, including IPC guidelines, for allowable test pressures and durations. Do not exceed the pressure rating of the plug or connected piping.
