The IPS 86718 is a 20-inch copper-plated steel support bracket designed to secure residential and light-commercial plumbing pipe and tubing to wood or metal stud framing. Formed from 16-gauge steel with a copper-plated finish, this bracket provides a rigid mount that reduces pipe movement, noise, and vibration in finished wall cavities. The bracket ships with three hole sizes — 1/2 inch, 3/4 inch, and 1 inch — making it compatible with common copper and CPVC tubing sizes used in residential rough-in work. Cases contain 50 brackets, reducing per-unit cost compared to fabricated site supports or cut wood blocks.
The IPS 86718 bracket is suited for securing supply lines to lavatories, toilets, hose bibs, and water heaters, as well as general tubing runs during rough-in. It attaches directly to wood studs with nails or screws, or to metal studs using self-tapping fasteners. After mounting, pipe is soldered or otherwise secured to the bracket in place, keeping runs plumb and minimizing contact noise that travels through framing. The multi-hole pattern accommodates several common pipe sizes on a single bracket profile, reducing the number of SKUs a plumber needs to stock on the truck.
Designed for use with tubing, lavatory supply, toilet supply, hose bib, and water heater rough-in applications using 1/2-inch, 3/4-inch, and 1-inch pipe or tubing sizes.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers during rough-in framing stages, prior to drywall. Shut off the water supply before soldering any pipe connections to the bracket. Fasten securely to structural studs — not solely to drywall or sheathing — to ensure the bracket carries pipe load without flex. Follow local plumbing code (IPC) requirements for pipe support spacing, as maximum span between supports varies by pipe material and diameter.
